Give your Song of India bright indirect light for at least 6 hours a day. This cane can handle direct sun. but only for a few hours in the morning or early evening. The variegation requires more sunlight than its fully green cousins. but keep in mind that the direct afternoon sun is too hot and will burn the leaves. Water thoroughly when the first 2-3" of soil is dry. stopping only when water begins to drain from the holes in the bottom of the planter.

Like most cane plants. the Song of India is not pet-safe. so keep these away from curious pets and young children!
