Commonly known as the Goeppertia picturata. or the Picturata 'Argentea'. this member of the prayer family is native to tropical Northwest Brazil. With its striking. long. red-stemmed. silver and deep green edged leaves. the Calathea Picturata gained the honor of achieving the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

Being that it's from a tropical environment. it thrives in moderate humidity. warm temperatures. consistently moist. but not wet/soggy soil. medium to indirect bright light and will grow up to 3 to 3.5 ft. tall indoors. This makes them great as statement plants in a brightly lit corner. or foyer! Over time this plant may lose some of its lower leaves. but don't be alarmed. this is just a natural occurrence in the plant's life cycle.
